Hi Rahman,
You are
perfectly right, right wordings are affiliation, or accreditation that covers entire aspects of supply and demand side of emerging learning technologies. In this global
open education system, everybody has a right to get right education information in the first place!!!!
With best
regards,
Ekanath

I support this idea. If it is possible to map them according to some set
standards (you may say, credibility, but the exact word is affiliation,
or accreditation), then it will increase the demand of this emerging
learning technologies (from the both side, such as the education
provider, and the learner).

Dear Oer-community and
Susan,
Thank you all for the enriched discussions so far. If I see a Zambia
case, most of the colleague graduates and busy working
professionals ( nearly 40-60%) are doing the distance
learning from the universities like UK, USA, South Africa ,
Malaysia and so on . They are investing a lot of resources and time
to acquire higher level education through these distances learning
process. Due to lack of right information about the education
providers, universities and right course curriculum, students are not
able to select the right course and right investment choice for their
course. Other issues of credibility of the universities!!!! I hope this
mapping process will make their life easier. Are we also including these
issues in the mapping process?

Hi Community, Susan!
I had started some small mapping exercises with my students here in Nepal
in google maps first two years back. But we had to depend upon approval
mechanism from google for getting these data and inputs being published.
Thus apart from openness, this was one of the reason, we choose
OpenStreet Map for mapping our neighborhood.
I would second Abel's proposal to consider using OpenStreetMap (OSM) for
OER community map. Its pretty easy to update and also certainly preserves
our freedom.
