Without getting into the issues surrounding open data or the use of open
technologies, here is an powerful example of the value of visualising
global data.
The UNESCO Institute for Statistics have developed an interactive
global map<http://www.uis.unesco.org/EDUCATION/Pages/international-student-flow-viz.aspx>to
illustrate: Where do students go to study? Where do they come from?
based on UIS data.
See: http://goo.gl/tkzML
Choose your country and change the options.
Now imagine what we could do for OER using open data and open source
technologies.
