Dear Christian,

Apologies for vague english.

In open source development, if you have to use a paid for service or
product, then in theory it isn't "open source". I wondered if using
paid-for metadata standards (say like Adobe having an Open Format, but not
open source software) would lead to questions of openness.

Just conjecture.
