Dear Colleagues,

It has been another week of informative interaction, and thanks to all who
contributed and followed the various threads of discussion.

There remains discussion about both OER initiatives - and about OER
resources themselves. Being able to find both are concerns. BUT our focus
is on initiatives and whether and how to collaborate to develop as complete
as possible an overview of OER initiatives around the world.

We heard from the creators of the Global Open Access Map - a potential
model for an initial simple OER map. This was useful because the intent of
the map was similar to a number of the reasons for having an OER map that
were put forward early in our discussion.

Also, we have heard about a number of resources - both for finding
initiatives and finding OER. The UNESCO directory described by Abel Caine
sounds like an appropriate action following the regional meetings and the
World OER Congress in Paris this past June that resulted in the Paris OER
Declaration<http://www.unesco.org/pv_obj_cache/pv_obj_id_EEF3C7E6694B8B91C31F5EA3340D484EF03A0100/filename/Paris%20OER%20Declaration_01.pdf>
. It is timely to share information collected by UNESCO. The directory
would surely be a complementary resource, to a map of OER initiatives.

Abel requested that we write directly to him with input, but in the spirit
of openness of the OER community it would be preferable to share comments
with the group. Our discussion has had a focus on the identification of
"essential" information on global OER initiatives/projects, and at the end
of our discussion we want to be able to list them.

You will receive a summary log of the interaction of this week before we
start the discussion of the final week.

Our challenge next week will be to bring the threads of the discussion
together.

My best,

Susan
